Lesson 21.2 Squares and Square Roots

In this lesson, students make connections between squares and square roots. They estimate square roots numerically using linear interpolation (see TP14 and 15) and geometrically using a number line (see SP12).

In later lessons, students explore exponents in more depth. They use inductive reasoning through pattern recognition to make conjectures about exponent rules, eventually formalize those rules, and then use the rules to solve problems involving exponents.
